River damming and drought affect water cycle dynamics in an ephemeral river based on stable isotopes: The Dagu River of North China

چکیده
The flow regime and biogeochemical cycles are greatly affected by river damming drought, especially in ephemeral rivers. However, the combined effects have been rarely considered. This study, taking Dagu River Jiaodong Peninsula of North China as an example, investigated dynamic changes water cycle related to drought using stable isotopes for period 2018–2019. results indicated that significantly varied temporally spatially. temporal variations appeared be linked with those precipitation, but relationship between precipitation was damming, water-groundwater exchange potential pollution. Spatially, a single dam exhibited no significant effect on isotopes, accumulative impacts cascade dams resulted enrichment heavy towards downstream through increasing hydraulic residence time evaporation largely. inter-annual increased evaporative fractionation were highlighted their strong response 2019. changed dynamics further exacerbated shortage, which should thus fully considered resource management, regions water-limited heavily-regulated

15 صفحه اولImpact of Yangtze River Water Transfer on the Water Quality of the Lixia River Watershed, China
To improve water quality and reduce the negative impacts of sudden inputs of water pollution in the Lixia River watershed, China, a series of experimental water transfers from the Yangtze River to the Lixia River were conducted from 2 December 2006 to 7 January 2007. Water samples were collected every six days at 55 monitoring sites during this period. Eight water parameters (water temperature,...
متن کاملGlobal phosphorus retention by river damming.
More than 70,000 large dams have been built worldwide. With growing water stress and demand for energy, this number will continue to increase in the foreseeable future. Damming greatly modifies the ecological functioning of river systems. In particular, dam reservoirs sequester nutrient elements and, hence, reduce downstream transfer of nutrients to floodplains, lakes, wetlands, and coastal mar...
متن کاملDrought Characteristic Analysis Based on an Improved PDSI in the Wei River Basin of China
In this study, to improve the efficiency of the original Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI_original), we coupled the Soil and Water Assessment tool (SWAT) and PDSI_original to construct a drought index called PDSI_SWAT. The constructed PDSI_SWAT is applied in the Wei River Basin (WRB) of China during 1960–2012. The comparison of the PDSI_SWAT with four other commonly used drought indices reve...
